Hiring policy

Agile Collective hiring approach

Agile Collective is committed to open, transparent, equitable, and accessible hiring and recruitment practices.

Hiring process and considerations

Hiring needs typically arise from resourcing or strategic discussions within circles, teams or business functions. The process for structuring and following up on these conversations is outlined in the Hiring process and considerations page.

Other cases

There are two other cases to consider about hiring:

  1. Apprenticeships
  2. Offering employment to existing contractors

Apprenticeships

Agile Collective supports providing meaningful learning experiences for individuals interested in exploring the skills and roles involved in digital project delivery. This includes digital strategists, designers, developers, accessibility experts, and project managers.

Apprenticeship opportunities are not directly linked to future permanent employment. However, they offer a valuable opportunity for potential future employees or members to become familiar with our values, business practices, and cooperative working model.

Apprenticeship hiring is led by the Apprenticeship Working Group. Before beginning any apprenticeship recruitment, the Apprenticeship Working Group will consult with the Operations Circle.

Although the apprenticeship hiring process may differ from the standard hiring process, it upholds the same principles of openness, transparency, equity, and accessibility.

A few months before an apprenticeship ends, the apprentice's mentor(s) may propose offering the apprentice a permanent contract. This proposal should be co-developed with the apprentice and include details on pay, role, membership preferences, and financial considerations. Final decisions on such proposals are made by the Operations Circle in consultation with members.

If an apprentice is offered a permanent contract, they will automatically begin a 6-month employment probation and a 12-month membership probation period in line with the policy relating to other new hires. It is possible for the membership mentor to bring a proposal to members to reduce the membership probationary period if it is felt that the apprentice has made significant progress in the membership learning plan throughout their apprenticeship.

Offer employment to existing contractors

Agile Collective contracts individuals to help fulfil temporary resourcing needs on projects or business tasks.

If there is a need to offer a more permanent role to an existing contractor, the standard Hiring process should be used as much as possible.
